I’ve been whittling away at this project for about 6 weeks, and it’s finally coming to end. Just a few odds and ends left.
I had a small discussion with a few people here about how to approach the leaner rail. Here’s what I came up with. Started out as 8/4 poplar, and I planed it down so it sloped from 1 3/4″ to 3/16″. Lots of file work on both outside corners to ease the edge.
The bar itself is 2×4 frame. 5/8″ black melamine on the inside, 1/2″ OSB and 1/4″ paneling on the outside

Here's what I came up with to rip the 12' long pieces of laminate on site. 2-4x8 sheets of OSB, and 2 sets of saw horses. The "infeed" table is about 4" lower than the saw. I found it easier to handle the 4'x12' sheets this way.

Here's the auxiliary fence I made. It uses to T-bolts slipped into the slots on my Ridgid fence, the single best feature on the saw.

So you are not to set a drink down on that bar?

Won't they slide off?
You don't spend much time in a bar, do you?A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

Not much any more, and likely proud of that fact. As for bar rails, typically the ones I see are more like a round cylinder attached to the bar. Often padded. Not likely I would try to set a drink on it, drunk or otherwsie. LOL!
Here's a few simple steps to remember:
1) Order drink
2) Pay for drink(don't forget to tip)
3) Imbibe drink, while sitting on stool, stand, or occasionally lean against said leaner rail. If your arm, or hand, tires from grasping the drink, place carefully on the FLAT part of the bar.
4) Place empty mug, tumbler, bottle, etc. on the inner most drink rail. Thus, indicating to (hopefully attractive) barmaid you would like another.
5) If you've had too much to drink, remember don't drink and drive, or call any of your ex girlfriends.--------------------------

You forgot the most important part of the bar.
Sit by the sink.
Hope they don't have a mechanical glass washing tower.

Thanks, very nice. LOL!!!
And if you think your glass keeps sliding to the edge ask for a cab.

I'm sitting here reading your 5 tips to successfully purchasing and devouring of an alcohol beverage.
Good advice, especially "place carefully on the FLAT part of the bar."
I'm going to go have another Bud just to make sure I've got it down. Wanna make sure I got it right before going out in public and doing it for real!
Oh, BTW, nice work on the bar, even that sloped part !
