Were building a 1300 sq foot home, due to the shortage of workers I will likely be doing most of the framing with family. I’ve been thinking more and more about doing a skillion roof with I joists and beveled top plates instead of trusses. Has anyone done is both ways, which seemed easier in the longrun ?
So far seems like working on extended overhangs and building higher side/front walls are biggest issue along with larger facia boards.

Are you considering this to make it easier to muscle the parts around the worksite?
Get a weight estimate for trusses and for the I beams.
What kind of span are you considering? One story or two?
It seems like simple, rectangle walls will be easier for you to frame and erect.
Ya, I had figured the longest I joist (with overhangs) would be 34 feet, but I keep forgetting I'm going to have to do a midpoint glulam/lvl so saving weight of truss will be offset.
