I’m retired from an occupation unrelated to construction and doing volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity. Something like this is probably covered in Construction 101 at the VoTech school but I don’t want to go back to school before I begin.
We’d like to pour the slab and porch with a single pour. The porch is 6′ (front to back)& extends the width of the front of the house. The question is: Does the elevation of the porch have to drop somewhat (maybe an inch or two) from the elevation of the slab (to keep wind blown moisture from pooling next to the bottom plate)? If this elevation difference is required or recommended, is it possible or recommended to pour at one time?
