I’m drafting a 40’x25′ building with a 3/12 shed roof pitch.
This is the first time someone has asked me to draft this type of roof
design.
The reference materials i’ve been using so far do not have ceiling joists,
just rafters connected at the top plates, but i cannot in good conscious follow these designs just because that’s all i see, does anyone have any information regarding why i wouldnt need joists?
Thanks

A shed roof does not create any outward thrust at the walls. All the loads are vertical. Think of at like a flat roof, where rafters and joists are the same.
