I’ve got a “Slide Driver”, sort of like a slide hammer for auto body work, except it pounds nails in. It’s a heavy handle with a long, 1/4″ steel shaft. The shaft fits in a tube which contains the nail and locates the shaft. You pull back the heavy handle and “slam” the nail, driving it into places where you can’t swing a hammer.
I got mine years ago at Home Depot. A buddy wants to buy one, but HD doesn’t carry them, and I can’t find anything on the web.
Anybody got any ideas where to get one? (None were listed on e-bay)

Sears has one but I never use mine do you find that many uses for it?

I MAY DISAGREE WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING BUT I WILL DEFEND TO THE DEATH YOUR RIGHT TO SAY IT.

I volunteer a lot for the local Habitat affiliate. It seems that there are always some pieces of blocking that were missed, or that the inspector decides on after the fact, or some piece of Simpson hardware which needs to go in where there's no hammer room. Maybe an hour or so on each house.
Thanks for the tip on Sears
I use mine about once a year. Each time I use it, I'd be willing to pay at least a hundred bucks for it.Arguing with a Breaktimer is like mud-wrestling a pig -- Sooner or later you find out the pig loves it.
Marty,
I think this is what you are looking for? I hope? Here's the link. http://bestconstructiontools.com/ click on the peashooter

That's it. I'll pass this on to the guy who wants to buy.
thank you
I would use a palm nailer.
Of course, if you just have to nail up 3 pieces of blocking, the slide driver would be faster than the compressor/hose routine.

Jon,
The palm nailer won't fit in some of the tight spots the pea shooter will fit, and vice-versa. Just today was blocking and thought to use the palm nailer, but no room. Pea shooter would have worked. There are always screws.

Made my own version years ago.
Pea shooter is an apprpriate description. Cut a piece of 3/8" (id) steel pipe tp about 8" long. Cut a 5/16" x 10" flat head bolt to 81/2". An 8d or 16d nail inserted in the end can be placed and nailed using your hammer. the pea shooter rig fits in one of the pockets of my nail apron. always there, always ready. just wish I had used a magnetic bolt .
