The keyless chuck on my Makita cordless drill (6270D, 12V) has begun to slip very badly. Is there a repair possible? Should I replacwe the chuck? Is it a job for a repair center?

replace the chuck
Open it all the way, and you should see some kind of lock screw in it. Take that screw out, it will be a left hand thread, so righty loosey.
Once the lock screw is out insert the biggest hex wrench you have that the chuck will hold in the chuck and tighten the chuck on it. The chuck is right hand thread, so lefty loosey. If it is stiff, rap on the end of the hex key a couple of times with a hammer and it should loosen up.
