Dear Folks,
Good morning. I’m wanting to redo a smallish bathroom. What’s the best way to remove an old(1967), plaster wall, get rid of the dropped ceiling (w/insets),the a/c ducts are not so concealed inside, find skinnier duct things, remove old cemented on mirrors? Do I start w/ the ceiling? It’s bad. Help.
Overwhelmed already,
Gab

Welcome to BT Gabby....
Empty the bathroom of all fixtures then start with the walls. I take it yur not interested in saving anything so pry off the mirrors.
Is the plaster over wood lath or or drywall like stuff. I prefer to score / cut the stuff with a 1"long blade in a sawzalland break / pull out sections.
Tell us more about duct. You got room for a rectangle one and the transistions for a lower profile? Can the exsisting one be rethunk and left alone.
Needless to say becarefull. Eye and lung protection is mandatory here..

You may want to repost your note in the "General Discussion" forum here. "Help Wanted Work Wanted" is read mostly by folks looking for contractors or offering services.
General Discussion will get your dilemma in front of more readers.

Absolutely true! Didn't mean for that to sound strange...I recommended Breaktime to G. after he came to ask for help at the houseinprogress.com site. Then I felt badly because I didn't give him more direction because I really do believe that the Breaktime folks are tops at offering advice.
But it looks like some folks HAVE found him here...and that's awesome.
Thanks.
Gab,
Please don't bite off more than you chew because you don't want a half torn up bath that you cannot finish. I see many "projects" that homeowners start, can't finish, and have to wait for months to get a contractor in. Other than that, good luck, you have found the best constuction forum to ask questions and get answers!
Coming to you from beautiful Richmond, Va.

Yes, all of the above. And a wheelbarrow -- a big one. Not one of those garden thingies, but a real contractor's wheelbarrow. You can use it to haul the debris outside, up the ramp, and into the dumpster.
Of course, as an alternative to renting a dumpster, you could explain to your wife that this job calls for a brand new F350, with 4wheel drive, and leather seats.
Vast projects should not be founded on half vast ideas.
