Small bathroom remodel. Remove tub, vanity, and sink/faucet. Add a shower, and shower surround. New floor, new pedestal sink and faucet, new medicine cabinet. Add a new bathroom vent fan. Existing tub is in good shape.
The subfloor repairs were excluded from the bid, because I couldn’t see what was there until we opened it up. Added up to about $500 extra, mostly all labor (obviously)

There was some kind of funky plastic-coated masonite surround, which we removed.

here we're adding the shower line, and the owner decided to remove the window because of proximity to the shower head. That will be an extra, since he originally said he wanted to keep it (it used to open to the outside, but he added on to the house, and now it just opens to another room).

we moved the hot and cold supply lines closer together, so they would look better with the pedestal sink

we removed the sheetrock around the tub, to put the dura-rock up. We found a gross dead rat in the wall when we opened it up. (no, I didn't take any pictures of it!) Yecch!

I put 1/4" plywood underlayment in preparation for sheet vinyl - but the floor feels so solid, now I'm thinking tile over 1/4" wonderboard. We have leftover tile, and the floor's so small, not much labor involved.

we added a ceiling fan - there was no ventilation before, and mildew problems as a result. Hopefully this will address the problem. This model cost me about $90 at the big box.

Tile over 1/2" dura-rock, over black felt paper. This is an example of how Carlos' tile layout bugs me. He'll end up with a 2" high tile at the bottom by the tub. I think I would rather have just dropped the whole thing down 2", instead. At least it'll kinda match the bullnose trim tiles at the top. I told him next time discuss the layout with me in detail, before beginning. My bad.
Fortunately, its not that critical on this job, an inexpensive remodel on a rental house. Still, I want him to think like I do, and picture the finished product before he starts.

A 2" decorative trim tile might work down there. Nahhhhhh
