I’m looking at adding a small lean to on the side of an old shed. About 4.5 feet wide and 8 or 10 ft long. Saw the attached and was wondering about rafters tied straight into an outer joist like that instead of cut birdsmouths and laid on top. Snow is not an issue and all I’m doing is just making a rain shield for a row of shelving basically. If I do birdsmouth cuts it’s going to narrow the width because I’m just doing this out of leftovers I have laying around.
