I have a foundation wall lining a basement stair that the customer wants a high end finish on. Old house, the stair is 28″. The wall has water vapor but not moisture, and they don’t want to lose unnecessary space in an already minimal width.
So the question is what can I cover a masonry wall with that is thin, looks great with a luxury smooth finish, and can stand up to minor water vapor?
Plaster is an option, such as a USG diamond coat type product but they warn against moisture and there are extra steps to put it over masonry.
A LVT glued to the wall could work though I’d have to gauge the wall first anyway.
Tile is likely the best option as my guy can make the wavy wall perfect, and is the direction I’m headed, but it is also the most expensive so any other thoughts?
