I’m in the middle of a remodel for a room that will have the TV in it, so I’m scattering boxes around the room with conduits leading to boxes in the crawl space and attic for cables of various sorts (Ethernet, speaker, etc.). Mostly, I was able to use flexible steel conduit, but in a couple of spots I needed the tighter bends I can get with Electrical Non-Metallic Tubing (ENT, or “smurf tube”).

We live in a small town in an agricultural county, with the creek and flood plain on the east side of town about 1/4 mile away. So we have mice. And rats. I’m doing preventive stuff in the attic and crawl space, but they’re persistent devils.

I’m wondering whether I need to be concerned about the rodents chewing through the ENT and making their way into the boxes. The runs in the attic/crawl space will be short, 8-10″. Great Stuff has a new foam with a bitter additive that’s supposed to discourage varmints; or I could come up with some kind of sleeve (oversize metal flex conduit?). Or I could trust; but I’ve never found mice/rats terribly trustworthy.

Advice?
