I have Auto CAD 14 only and would like something a bit easier / simpler. Ordered a demo copy of Chief Architect 8.0. I’m wide open to any opions to this and any other software out there. My cheater board has deep sixed it’s self and probably look for one of them too. Opinions?

Try TurboCad
Imerc,
Have you tried Softplan? It's a bit pricey, but has met all of my needs.
Good Luck!

if you're moving from ACAD14, the three that would be in your league would probably be Vectorworks, Softplan, & Chief Acrchitect...
I've never heard anyone who uses one of those three complain about their choice
I've used Chief since '97, Hubcap just switched from ACAD, I think Steve Zerby uses it.....
Chief User's has an excellent site which you can get to from ART's home page..
Skip the TurboCad...not worth the money. I have Chief Home 5.0 and it's just ok, but miles ahead of Turbo. Do a search for cad...there's lots of discussions.
Do it right, or do it twice.
The Chief Architect 8.0 demo should be on the way. It isn't so much that I don't mind spending the money but I wouldn't mind having to do it only once.
Is there a difference between Chief Home and Chief Architect?
Duh! The search feature. Thanks.

Home 5.0 is a slightly dumbed down version of Chief 8, both published by the same company, supposedly very similar and fully compatible, about half the price. Since you're used to Autocad, think of it as an AutoCad Lite vs Autocad comparison.Do it right, or do it twice.
Thanks.
