I have installed a few solid core six panel oak doors in my home and have encountered the same problem on both. Both are 30″ closet doors which have to be installed from inside the closet. From the inside the door is plumb and level, but after the door is installed I am noticing an uneven gap between the top of the door and the jamb. The gap is about 1/16″ at the hinge side but 3/16″ at the latch side. I find this very unsightly and am considering scribing a parallel line on the door and sawing the top off. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. I am using about five sets of wood shims per side.
