Hello everyone,
I have a gap of maybe 2 inches between a porch pillar (wrapped in stone) and the outer wall of a powder room (sheathing and tyvek only right now). The gap is too small to allow for putting siding there (see picture). As a result I have water seeping through the sheathing and bottom plate (see 2nd picture). The heavier it rains, the bigger the problem. I need a way to resolve this. I thought about putting 2 vertical pressure-treated 2x4s along the edges of the pillar (fastened from inside the powder room), and filling the gap with gravel or waterproof foam. I could then slice a 2 or 3 inch PVC pipe along the length and use it as a small open gutter below the drip edge and on top of the fill behind the pillar. I’m hoping this open PVC pipe can channel the water into the main gutter (which when installed will stop at the outer edge of the pillar).
I appreciate any ideas you can share to help me address this problem.
Thanks!

Where's the water coming from at the top?
Thanks for the reply. The water is coming from the roof above the powder room. I’m attaching additional photos to give an idea.
Do you have another picture from out away from the house of the column, soffits and walls?
The way the housewrap and flashing tape is different at several windows suggests “how do I do this?”
Attached rendering may show what you’re asking for.
D,
That entire area to the back and side (right) are one serious collector. It should be flashed redundantly around there even if you lived in a desert.
The last picture shows finished, were your first pictures of a new construction copy?
@Calvin. Yes, first pictures are of a new construction copy
I cannot see it from here but I would shy away from attempting to deal with capturing the water now vs. detailing properly that whole column area. If you are in a snow area, higher up melt may still bypass any collection trough you attempt to install.
Is there a way to contact the original build for a detail on how they properly introduced their flashings? Like I mentioned, when I see different window details on the tape and housewrap on the same dwelling, something not consistent could be something wrong.
But then again, I’ve been wrong before.
