Did a smallish but somewhat detailed bath for these folks earlier in the year. Model clients. Got and email from the missus today and responded.
This is great and what we work toward each and every day. Emails follow……….

No problem on the timing -although we want you to commit to doing the work while we’re in Uruguay to start right after Christmas thru mid February more or less.<!—-> <!—->
<!—-><!—->
xxxxxx wants to pick tile, etc.with me since he uses the bath so that will take me more time than I’d like so I wanted your input sooner rather than later for ideas and to get an estimate going. Let me know what works for you. There’s always weekends if you’re busy during the week and again, there’s still plenty of time<!—-><!—->

and just over the wire...........
in midfebruary we come back from uruguay and would like to sleep in our bed on the weekends and use our bathroom, not crucial for a weekend but it would be nice.
of course we could always sleep upstairs for a weekend or two and use our nice new guest bathroom.............................
Awesome people to work for. If everyone was like this it would turn the industry around.

Eric, those kind of clients-----that's what keeps my interest up. Dealing with the opposites, drains the life outta me.A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

Cal, I find it very interesting that you would say something like "it drains the life outa me" because you've been doing the remodel thing so long and I'd think you'd have it all figured out and be able to avoid the problem clients. On the other hand, I know how they can appear out of nowhere.
Jim, I've got a pretty good memory for clients and in that long period of time there's going to be some problems-either jobs or customers. Developing the eye for picking them out in advance takes a bit of time and there's always the curveball.
I also can take a bit more than some thin skinned remodelers. In the list of repeat customers I've got a couple that I would classify as special needs. Not too demanding to abandon, but draining none the less.
Referral only sure limits the surprises. They do a good job of pre-qualifying.A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

My hats are off to all you guys that have stood the test of time with retail residential remodeling.
"My hats are off to all you guys that have stood the test of time with retail residential remodeling."
I just posted that and read yours.
Yup , I sure agree.
My hat is tippped to you sir .
I truly hate residential clients . They make me want to throw up.
You guys do a service working around people living on your job. I mean its not even your job , its their house. No no no , not me . I do have appreciation for people that do it . Thats a fact .
Tim
Thank you for the hat tipping.
To me it's not that big of a deal-or I'm one of those people persons or something akin to it.
It takes a bit of patience, soft control like a good parent and some common sense I guess. You are in their lives-how you behave has alot to do with how the rest of the experience goes.
And again, my operation is cake compared to those working for off the street customers. My pre-qualifiers have done a wonderful job.A Great Place for Information, Comraderie, and a Sucker Punch.

I know what your saying about the life drainers.
It sure is nice to be appreciated.
Hey, do me a favor and find out from Luka just what the heck I allegdedly did to get booted from the board?
This tin star moderator c r a p is the dopiest thing I can imagine.
According to informed sources, he or someone booted me for I don't know what. I rarely even post anymore.
BT has gotten pretty sucky. It's a real shame to see such a good resource dwindle away to nothing.
Thanks Cal.
Eric
Jeezus Peezus, you got the boot? I cannot imagine why, unless you unleashed some retaliatory rhetoric on some poor leftist...............and that would be a stretch.
I'll ask him right now-and when did this happen? Been semi out of touch for the past couple weeks, what with our jaunt to the coast and the fest prep with Blodgett. I ran out of U's in Portland, ended up as Jim in Wa.
Stay in touch man, you are a good one.
Politics aside.
And this from a guy that didn't used to like you, well.........that might be a bit strong.
So, still no explanation as to why..............

He emailed me.I tried to be helpful. I passed along what I know.He was obviously unhappy about it.There's nothing more I can do.....You are always welcome at Quittintime
I've never seen a moderator on a board that didn't interject his prejudice into the conversation and didn't abuse their powers when the conversation started slipping out of their "control". They don't like hearing from people that don't agree with them.
Basically, moderated boards suck.
Gee that's a tough life. If you can't get to them, howzabout pass on their contact info ...
