Finished this about 3 months ago.
Customer saw one similar in a magazine and asked me to build one.
Front frame is timber framed with wooden pins locking the mortice and tenon joints.
3 days on a chisel…………:-)
Everyone was pleased with it. As I had never done one before I enjoyed it immensely. Now all I need is orders for a few more. Might need a boy next time though to help with the lifting. Some of the larger chunks pushed the limits somewhat.

Scroll down and right. The pictures have really wide white borders.
thanks
Very sweet... chiseling well spent. If it rains much there it will not be long before they will call you back to add a gutter, and personally I would like to see the walls and posts at least 6" above the slab, on stemwall and piers... otherwise rain splashing up will keep the bottom edges too wet.
The guttering was to be added later. He chose copper and was undecided if he would paint the siding or not.
Once decided, paint would go on, then gutter. However the siding was rough sawn and wet and needed time to dry anyhow.
As for the rest, the siding extends down past the bottom plate so nothing can get in. Wind blown rain doesnt get in very far.

Hey, that is really nice. I like the design and the way it turned out.

I love it, how many hours to build? And I take it you are in New Zealand somewhere..... care to tell where?

It took about 8 to 9 weeks. Next time around I think it would take 5 to 6.
I am in North Canterbury..........close to Christchurch.
