sonotubes poured at same time as footing

We have just started on our new home and have the main part of the foundation poured and backfilled. A professional cribber did this part but there still needs to be sonotubes placed over footings for the veranda. As we want to reduce costs we thought it best to have the cement truck come out only once. Is there any trick my husband and I should know about pouring footings at the same time as we pour the sonotubes? Obviously, we are beginners and any hints would be great.

You could try these....

Be sure and verify that they meet your specifications.
Use one bys to suspend the tubes about 8 inches above the bottom of the footing. Make sure they're level and plumb, then fill and compact the concrete. Insert #4 rebar if the columns are longer than 2 feet.

Thank you, we will give it a try.
Don't know how deep you ned to go but you can get precast concrete pilings. I plan to use these on my new home for the porch suports. They are 4' tall and have a footing (12"x12" I think) molded in. Pretty sure the price was around 40.00 each. My excavation contractor recommended them as did one of the foundation guys I talked to. They will be installed after the foundation is back filled.

you can get them five feet tall too - maybe not needed in GA, but here they are stock items four or five

I'm actually using them in NH but I think the 4' will work fine. This certainly seems like a much simpler way to go vs pouring sonotubes.Tom

Dieselpig's suggestion is the way to go. This product is a real time saver.

They are very easy to use, pretty self explanatory. About the only disadvantage to them is you have to dig a full-sized hole to set them in, instead of being able to auger out a 10" hole for an 8" sonotube. But that shouldn't be a problem for you.
You just need to set them, spot them, and backfill. Then pour.
Done deal.

But it is not this day.
Thanks for your help -- it looks simple enough even for us.
