I am trying to cut down on sound travel between 2 units above and below eachother. Currently there is a gypsom and plaster ceiling in place, which I would like to leave in place.
does anyone have experience with different techniques for added sound separation? The building is hot water rad heat so no problems with ducts, just looking for increased sound serparation
Thanks
Blake

Look for "bypasses" -- spaces
Look for "bypasses" -- spaces around pipes, etc, where sound can "leak" through. And of course carpeting above will help some.
Anything else requires ceiling work -- either ripping it out or adding a layer below. The least damaging "fix" would be to blow cellulose into the joist cavities, but this requires holes in the floor or ceiling every 5 feet or so along each joist cavity.
