I have outswinging frnech doors that open onto a 600 sq ft deck I built. I’m thrilled with the results, but there is one small problem- the wind. When it blows just a bit, it swings the doors and either slams them shut, or bangs the door handle smack into the 5’x5′ window that is adjacent to the doors.
So I thought of one solution, but I’m open to others. I was trying to figure out where I can get one of those door latches you see on the bottom of a secondary door. (the kind that slide down and go into the floor to keep the door secured.) I need one with about 5″ of travel, because it will need to travel into the deck, which is about 3″ below the door bottom. The ones they sell in normal hardware stores travel about an inch, and they’re pretty junky looking.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Try Van Dykes Restorers (http://www.vandykes.com).
...that's not a mistake, it's rustic
The traditional solution (so you don't have to bend over) is to install cremone bolts

Jeff,
Cremones aren't going to work here because he needs 5" of throw. Cremones only have about an inch.
What you need can be found here:

A word of caution though, 5" of throw is a lot, bordering on extreme. You can easily bend even one of the heavy duty bolts shown here by putting pressure on the door. Is there a way to put a hook on the wall with an eyelet on the face of the door exterior ?

Tim suggestion reminded me of the trick of using a big magnet mounted on the wall and a metal plate mounted on the door [or vice versa]. Easy to operate.
