Source for Makita drill parts…….

JTC1 | Posted in Tools for Home Building on July 19, 2009 04:06am

The trigger switch on my corded, variable speed, 1/2″ Makita drill has gone belly up. Model DP4700.

It now has two speeds – stop and wide open at 550 rpm.

There used to be a Makita factory service center about 5 miles from me, but they have closed / moved (this was one of the reasons I bought into the Makita line!).

Went on line last night – googled Makita tool parts – tried several of the sites with no luck.

Makita’s factory site was a source of frustration, the only thing I could get was a parts catalog which is 1008 pages of part numbers and prices. No exploded diagrams to identify numbers.

Tried to access the “Find a factory service center” – clicking on that froze my computer. I gave up for the evening.

Anybody have a parts source or advice on navigating the Makita site?

Jim

I've never used it yet but I put about six things in the "cart" last night. Good Luck!

      Thanks, been there, no luck.

They had a nice exploded drawing which told me I needed part #40.

      Went to their parts list ---- 36, 37, 38, 39, blank, blank, 42, 43,.......

        I have a bunch of old Makita 9.6 and 12 V drills.

If you e-mail me a pix of your switch, I'll send you a switch free if I have a match.  Would guess there is a possibility of the same switch in many of the drills?

Never throw away an old tool, you may one day need a piece off it.

Thanks for the offer, but this is a 120v model.

This looks like a live one!

Don't have the time right now to determine which of two possibles is the right one.  Will decipher later.

      Thanks,

Know just how you feel, need trigger for Bosch cordless drill.Would like to order from a place in Canada, not having any luck with that at all.
Googled for a very long time and then gave up.Put up a thread asking for help. "canuck web site for tool parts", still have ordered it.

I mean really it`s trigger, usually the first then to go on a drill.

    Well Good Luck

I will second the recommendation for ereplacement parts.

The link for your drill is:

    http://www.ereplacementparts.com/makita-dp4700-1234-electric-drill-parts-c-97_106_147_11703.html

I ordered parts for a couple of my Porter Cable routers, and trim routers, from them.

The pricing was highly competitive, and their customer service was excellent.

I reread the original post, and double checked the link I sent, and they didn't have the switch either.

But, there are several listed on ebay.

      Thanks.

Took me a while to follow your link -- they had it -- ordered -- received yesterday -- installed this morning -- running good!

I've used makitadirect.com many times and found it problem-free. I think that's the right URL -- if not, you can google it. good luck.
