Hi All,
I’m a long time browser and reader of Fine Homebuilding. I’m remodeling a 100 year old farm house for my family (wife and two kids). Things are going well but I’m running into problems finding the “right” (as defined by wife) bathroom vanity for the planned craftsman style bathroom remodel of the small upstairs bath.
I’ve seen examples in various magazines showing gorgeous wooden Craftsman-style or Mission-style bathroom vanities with an open shelf cabinet design. By open shelf I mean a vanity with a top surface, with perhaps a drawer and room for either an undermount sink or a vessel sink, with an open shelf for storing towels and such below. Check out this link for an example: http://www.nhwoodworking.com/Bathroom_Vanity_Open_Style.html
I love building and working with wood, but I really don’t have the time to make my own version of a simple open shelf cabinet, let alone in a period piece. Every magazine I’ve looked at so far says the pieces in the display photos are custom work.
Does anyone have any recommendations for stock sources of cabinetry or bathroom vanities that have an open shelf design? Preferably of standard bath height (~32 inches), with or without a top, at least 20 inches deep and 30 inches wide? Alternate table/cabinet sources that could be modified to accept plumbing and a sink would be OK too.
Any help would be appreciated.
I’ve checked all over online and in come catalogs but the semi-stock cabinets I’ve found are either outrageously expensive (2k$+ for a single sink vanity made of non-rare wood?) or just plain boring and none have the “right” look.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Chris

Believe it or not, I found the "right" vanity at Lowe's!
It's not really Craftsman, but it has the general feel my wife and I like and it will go with the bead board we're putting up in the bathroom too.
Check it out: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=39378-834-9425200310&lpage=none. It's #39378 . It figures after going around to 20 different sites and looking at local furniture stores I find it at a big box!
But if anyone else has alternate sources for similar style vanities, please let me know. I prefer patronizing smaller operations despite the convenience of the big box stores.
Thanks.
Chris
