I recently had to do some taping in a building with no heat. A co-worker of mine suggested adding car anti-freeze to the compound to keep it from freezing overnight. Has anyone ever done this or have any other suggestions? Also, is there something I can add to plaster to slow the drying process and increase working time.

I don't know the answer, but if people start posting that antifreeze in the joint compound is a good idea, I will be stunned.

*No heat, no taping. Wait for better weather or get heat in the building.USG has a retarder for plaster. An oldtimers tip is to add some Cream of Tartar. Whichever one you try, a little goes a long way.Barry
