Does anyone know what the span rating of a 9″ TGI “I beam” style floor joist is? Someone local to me has some 22′ long ones for sale reasonable, and I am wondering if they are strong enough to clearspan 22′ as floor joists for a second floor of a garage. 2nd floor would be used for storage. Are they strong enough? thanks

look on joist and find out who made them. then contact the manufacturer for span rating.
I joists differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. are they laminated or solid top and bottom, plywood or osb?
probably won't span 22 feet clear no matter who makes them unless you go to 12" centers. even then, it will be bouncy.
*Also, there are three different 9" sizes. The manuyfacturerer spans them for you. Generally, bill is right. 20' span max for 9" @ 12"OC
*they should span that distance at 12 " o/c their are lots of diff flange sizes and manuf. spec all differ
