Simple question. Building a deck, had two different lumberyards daraw up the plan. They gave me 2 different span raings for the 2×8 joists. Inspector on vacation for a week (small town). Does anyone know off hand the spans for 2×8 and 2×10 joists?

To answer that question, we'd need to know the species of lumber, the grade, spacing, and your local codes and loading requirements. So your simple question isn't so simple.
