I decided to post a few pictures of a spiral handrail I just glued up.
I am delighted to see the available megabytes is greatly increased.

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Jerrald: I did put some over correction on this handrail. The centerline of the rail is 28.25 inch radius. I bent the rail to a 27.25 inch centerline radius. With 8 laminates..it sprung back to what as near as I can tell...a 27.75 inch radius. It is expected to springback just a little more. which should bring it real close. This same type of correction was done when I had lasik eye surgery several months ago. With time..my vision settled right in to 20/20. With time..I am expecting this rail to settle in as well. However...the top and bottom newels can supply tension or compression to bring it immeciately to the desired radius.
Stan,
It looks to me that there might be a 3" space up towards the top that doesn't have a clamp!
Waddyou run out?
:)
Nice stuff, envious as hell!!
