H Folks:
Am completing an addition which involves putting new stucco directly over existing 50 year old parged block, and same finish over wood frame/styro wall (the addition). One masonry sub is suggesting mesh on the whole thing (the ex. block wall is pretty ugly with many patches, though sructurally sound), then a portland cement scratch coat, then paint similar to finish stucco colour, then 2-3 coats of spray on ‘stucco’. I am leaning towards a trowelled on finish coat, because that sounds thicker and stronger to me. Will the spray on ‘stucco’ adhere to the painted scratch coat?Anyone out there have experience with this spray on stuff? I’m assuming it is cheaper than trowelling on acrylic, but is it any good?
The location will not get a lot of exposure to weather, as it is covered, but I don’t want it to crack/peel/flake/let the colour from below bleed through.
Thanks for the help
Andy
