was spraying oil based primer, and was wondering if instead of cutting it down with mineral spirits, i could cut it down with naptha. because of the drying time, with the changing weather in my corner of the country ,cooler and damper the primer is not drying as fast. thought naptha instead would hurry that up. now some particulars i use an apollo sprayer 900 hvlp , with mineral spirits i cut it down to 27- 30 seconds out of a viscosity cup. which gives me good coverage, not to thin with sanding in between2-3 coats i’m done, with a nice base to start. now , is it recommended to cut the oil based primer with naptha, any special precautions,preperations?? thanks for any help….bear

How 'bout Japan dryer?
I don't spray much but it helps when brushing in cool damp weather.

i've used them before on enamel piff, i've never thought of using them with oil-based primer, the basis of the japan drier if memory serves is a heavy metal salt, that speeds up the cure. thats a possibility hhhhmmm, i'll have to sleep on that. to be honest it didnt even occur to me. if nothing else for one gallon trial, i'm spraying louvers, corbels, pediments. i'll definitely sleep on that thanks piff. hope all went well . cheers bear
