You probably get way more benefit from the foam’s ability to seal up the cracks/gaps than its insulation value that you can almost ignore the R vaule benefit.
Unless you are gonna do the whole wall with “great stuff”!
Others have said it more eloquently than I here before: air leakage wastes way more heat than low R value does.
Seal the gaps (ALL the gaps) in any home an feel the benefit right away.

Once you get into that sort of volume, it is usually cheaper to go with a reusable foam gun. Better control, and less waste too.

Google for enerfoam. I think Gemplers or somebody has a 40# tank and spray kit that will go a lot further than those cans for the money. Or get a reuseable can gun. It will save 40% or so
