I need a source for corbels.
I’m building a mantel to go on a brick wall over my gas stove. The mantel will be a combination of clear stain grade pine and mdf trim. I’m looking for colonial style corbels (if there is such a thing).
The only thing I can find locally are cheap thin, shelf brackets for laminate shelves or really expensive stain grade maple/oak/cherry greek style corbels.

try vandykes.com and archpro.com. after that consider the question--why ?
I'll check them out. Thanks. Why corbels? That's actually a very good question and something my wife and I struggled with. We want a mantle to display art work in the living room instead of having an empty brick wall that doesn't add anything to the room. Normally, I would prefer a more traditional colonial surround with rail and style paneled columns for the mantel to sit on.
Unfortunately, it would look totally out of place with the gas stove. I did consider trying to sell or trade it in and get a fireplace. In the end, the cost to "upgrade" was too expensive at this point in time. So instead of just a floating mantel shelf, I decided that we could add some decorative flair to it with corbels. The corbels won't actually support the shelf (or at least all of the weight); I plan on supporting that by screwing the unit into a 2x4 (that is bolted to the wall.)
