staggered edge shingle shake hardieplank

I asked this in another post but the title was misleading.
Has anyone installed the Hardieplank staggered edge shingle shake siding? I have some questions about what to do when you get to gables and rakes. When you cut this stuff on the angles you sometimes end up with 5 pieces. What is the best way to secure it?
I have read all the info I could find and have asked around for anyone local who has put it on a house. Seems to be not that popular here yet.

We used 1 1/2" galvanized finish nails to nail the little pieces on the gables that couldn't be blind nailed.
I have attached a pic of one of our gables as well as the Hardie pdf in case you haven't read it.
When you're figuring out where to cut your angle on the Hardie shingle piece, it's easiest if you establish a "baseline" shingle. I think it's easiest if you then lay out a couple of sheets of Hardieshingle next to each other for measuring purposes....because you'll want to maintain some sort of pattern so you don't get the staggered pieces lining up on top of each other.
Is it weird that I kind of like installing Hardie?
