Hi,
I am about to start a cedar sidewall shingling project. I;m using a Senco sns45 stapler and am wondering if I should use stainless or galvenize fasteners? I understand using stainless on exposed surfaces, buf for the fasteners covered by the overlapping shingles can I get away with using cheeper galvenized staples?
Thanks
Dave

Dave,
Stainless is best , but could be a cost factor. Hot dipped galvanized is probably next in line. Should be fine . There is a very slight chance of some staining occuring , but moisture would have to get to the hidden fastener , and then drip out.
I've never heard of a hot-dipped galvy staple that is collated into strips for guns. The typical electro-galvy staples are marginal for rust resistance especially in cedar and redwood. Cedar and installation labor costs so much that the upgrade to stainless is reasonable.

If you are anywhere near salt water its a no brainer go with the stainless. I don't care for staples as the thinner shanks tend to rust sooner. Go with the stainless.
