Can anyone tell me what is causing this stain on a grappa deck and ipe oil applied as per directions

How long has the deck been there?
I see it's a wooded setting, trees over it?
Sunny location, or shaded most of the time?
Looks like mold. Wood and ipe oil are organic..........food for mold. How has the weather been? Wetter than normal with less than abundant sunshine?
Only other thing I can venture; and I have seen this, is that some one cut some ferrous materials in that area and the filings rusted on the deck surface.
Lottsa folks think I am nuts, but I have used muriatic acid to nutralize stains like that.
