Upgrading the footings and columns that support a girder beam is an opportunity to level out the floor above.

I'm sitting here with my son on my lap and every time he sees the little yellow postit, he says "click on it".
When I opened your picture he says, "those are nice steps".
I'm glad to see my son recognizes quality when he sees it.
Thanks for the pics, always glad to see them.

Well shoot, his son is 32, you'd think they'd buy him his own chair by now ;)

Ever figure what the total weight is on the finish stairs?
blue: they very a lot. I weighed one that was extra heavy and it weighed 950 pounds. I have hauled heavier ones that it took 10 guys all they could muster to get it into the house.
The average ones take 6 guys and I would say they weigh around 8 hundred pounds.
Did you build that set? Most of the houses that I have been on have a similar stair, the turn is only 90 degrees though. A canadian outfit makes them. They do a nice job. How about the handrail? Be sure to post more pics.

Putting a new twist on screwing around! I would have to celebrate everytime one of those fit<G> Don't worry, we can fix that later!
Dustin: I built that in my shop. Look under the thread..."Curved Stair just started"
Thats the same stairway hatching out.

That is beautiful work. Maybe someday I'll get the opportunity to do stuff like that. Definitely inspirational. Thanks for the pics!

Got dizzy just looking at them, both the spiral and quality. Like - cool - Eh!
Let's not confuse the issue with facts!
Stan,
Your work is absolutely amazing. I have a Stan Foster folder in my computer!
I have a couple of questions.
In the first photo, is that one house or is the structure in the right of the photo another house?
I can't imagine trying to muscle those stairs with 20 guys..........there's no handles!!
How do you do it, and more so, how do you raise them in the house, Are you using a winch as you did in your shop?
I show your work to my wife, oen of the few thing from BT that I share with her. She raised a question to me, that I am not sure I am comfortable asking.
How much does a set of stairs like that cost?
BT is truly blessed to have you here Stan. I really mean that. The work you do just blows so many of us away!!

Eric: Thanks for the kind comments...I think I am overrated however.
I lower the stairs to the floor in my shop with a winch...but onsite..we just get 6-10 guys depending on the size..and screw it through the front door and lift it into place.
That stairs was set and I was on the road back home at 10 a.m.

Stan, looks great (I think I'm just going to copy that phrase and paste it into any of your posts).
When do you go back for the railings?
I re-looked up the beginning thread on these stairs. Really cool to see them develop from scratch. Keep the pics coming. jt8

John: Thanks for the comments....The railing will be installed in a few weeks.
