I lost an uncle last week, Al Ehmen, who was one of the nicest people you could find. I was a pallbearer at his funeral and the service was very moving. Several people got up and said how Al had touched their lives. I was so moved that I went to my stairshop and made a little memorial for his wife. The engraved plate reads…..
“Stairway to Heaven”
In remembrance of Al Ehmen
1919 – 2003
Whose life influenced many to
make the steps necessary to
build their own stairway to heaven

Excellence is its own reward!
I am much moved, although I don't even know you nor you uncle Al. He must be well loved.
Be well.

Your best work I have seen so far, and thats saying something.
Sorry for your loss.

Cag: Thanks.....I have always said that the only stairway that means anything is the one to heaven.
Stan, I always love seeing your exquisite work. It's also special to me because there was a very prominent philanthropist named Stan Foster in my town who served on the Board of Directors for an organization I worked for--I don't recall ever meeting someone quite so gracious; he defined the word gentleman. You two seem to be cut from the same cloth. http://www.jewishsightseeing.com/usa/california/san_diego/cong_beth_israel/sd11-23-01foster.htm
Kai: You are too kind...thanks
Stan,
Sorry for your loss. I always look forward to your posts and I agree with CAG, this one is the most inspiring stair of them all.
Jeff...that's not a mistake, it's rustic
Very poetic...his wife will treasure those little steps forever...

Sorry to hear of your loss.
But that's a neat idea you came up with. Everybody's gotta find a way to express themselves when they lose someone.
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.
