Hi Folks!
Got a Buddy at work who is wanting to know a standard size for a wood fireplace harth. The fireplace is an unsealed unit with a hardwood floor infront of it.
The dimension I’m looking for is how many inches out from fireplace?
Right now he has 18 inches. Is this enough??
Thanks

18" minimum distance is correct. A larger fireplace could have a proportionally larger distance.

Down here in the states, it is 18" in some places and 16" in others. I always go with 18"
And 12" to either side of the edge of the openning.
But I don't know about you Canukians...
I was reviewing your chart for a wood stove the other day and where we need 18" in some places, they called for 16"....
'couse you spell hearth differently up there too
