All,
Any known cures for sticky weatherstripping? We installed new vinyl weatherstripping in the jamb kerf of a painted wooden door and a new rubber bumber seal in the aluminum threshhold and the rubber piece in the threshhold sticks to the door each time its closes.
By stick, I mean bad enough to pull the paint a little! I tried a spray silicone then Armor All and a host of other items to no avail. Next item is something like baby powder.
Any other thoughts?
Funny thing is same door does not stick to the vinyl stripping…

Rub the mating surface of the door with a piece of parafin wax. A bar of soap also works.

Whatever you do, don't use anything with an alcohol base, even to clean it.. It will condition the rubber and make the situation even worse.
Wax should do the trick. I use car wax... along the same theory as paraffin.
Ed and Rich,
Thanks guys! That worked like a charm!
