Give me a hint Jeff. Apparantly, that is one of those sites that take forever and a day to load. I don't have the bandwidth or speed to handle it

Stoam Holdings with its corporate headquarters located in Springfield, Missouri was founded by Mr. Russ Wright. Mr. Wright is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Stoam Holdings and its subsidiaries and has served in this capacity since the inception of the company in 2003.
Stoam Holdings was originally created with a focus on developing manufacturing operations for the steel framing industry. Its goal was to create, test and introduce new construction technologies into the market. The Stoam product was developed to innovate commercial and residential construction methods and set a new standard for the construction industry. The company was established to take advantage of the “Booming Age in Steel Stud Construction”.
In 2004 Stoam Holdings continued to evolve into a company that successfully focused on a better building technology and provided an energy efficient and environmentally friendly product that would easily be integrated into the building market. Stoam Holdings continually develops new construction methods, with emphasis on design, production, manufacturing research, industrial engineering and development. Stoam Holdings prospers as a company that provides a product that fulfills a multi-purpose need for commercial and residential builders. In 2005 Stoam Holdings along with pb2, a very large and successful architectural-engineering firm based in Rogers Arkansas, were showcased by ABC. The largest EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER SHOW to-date was aired to millions of viewers. Stoam Holdings showed millions of viewers and on-site government agencies that a new technology has evolved to set a new standard in the construction industry. Stoam Holdings and pb2’s management team were for their creativeness, technical knowledge, and diversified skill-sets. The show went on to win an Emmy.
...Newly engineered building components designed to withstand hurricane winds are delivered directly to the site and erected. Realsteel has plans for rapid international expansion in the areas of software development, manufacturing, engineering and shell home construction.
What makes a STOAM home superior to homes built by conventional construction methods?A STOAM home is stronger, safer and more energy efficient. Heavy snow loads, hurricane winds and earthquakes promise less threat when utilizing our structurally stable high-tech building system. The building components are fire resistant, termite resistant and treated with a mold and mildew application that is guaranteed. The components create a tighter building envelope and provide an effective R-value; homeowners can expect to significantly reduce monthly energy bills.

EASE OF USE: Manufactured with the aid of cutting-edge technology and controlled factory conditions, exterior and interior building components are produced; this includes wall systems, joists and trusses. These components are loaded and shipped directly to the job site. Materials are marked at the factory with an assembly code to eliminate confusion, making it easy to install (i.e., wall “A-1” joins wall “A-2”). With minimal man-power, the wall-systems are made from light-gauge steel framing and EPS foam.
COST OF QUALITY: With improved quality and quicker on-site assembly time often comes greater material costs. Not in the case of STOAM. Its high-tech building system is very competitive with traditional construction methods, in most cases beating the competition hands down. When you consider the cost reduction in terms of time of construction, reduced chance of theft, fewer weather delays, less on-site waste, improved energy efficiency, and less skilled labor, the bottom-line savings and overall costs are impressive.TIME: Through the ease and speed of assembly, the high-tech building system is manufactured in days, and then assembled on-site in a matter of hours, not weeks. This translates into huge savings in labor as the overall construction schedule would be decreased by at least two-thirds. In addition, the builder can improve his bottom line as the time savings also provide significantly lower construction loan interest payments.
ACCURACY: The pre-engineered building system is made in a controlled environment, so accurate quality control measures eliminate waste and ensure that code requirements and manufacturer specifications are met. Unlike traditional construction methods that allow up to 1 ½-inch on-site dimensional variance, STOAM utilizes a system that delivers a precision of 1/8-inch tolerance on both commercial and residential projects.
STABILITY: The strength and fire protection of the high-tech building system offers significant advantages over traditional stick-frame and basic steel framing. The galvanized steel is placed in the foam via our patented cut-in process. This provides a very strong wall assembly, significantly reducing possible bending and twisting of the stud while providing additional strength.

Thanks for the text.
Now my impression is that they use steel studs and foam to pre-panelize home wall components for site erections.
About right?

Piffin,
You got it.
It's quite similar to a product that was sold in Eastern Canada, maybe further too, called Insulwall. That was panelized houses consisting of expanded polystyrene and embedded wood studs.
They might still be around, but the last I knew about that plant was manufacturing Reward ICF.

In terms of on-site assembly, a STOAM shell package can’t be touched. The typical builder will assemble a home in less than one day. This has revolutionized the overall construction process. In general, the STOAM building system is comparable in cost to conventional stick-frame construction. However, the final product far surpasses stick-frame construction in terms of quality and time of construction. In the end, there really is no comparison.
How difficult is it to build with the high-tech system?Components arrive at the job site numbered and ready for placement. The components come pre-engineered, already fitted for door and window installation. A construction crew composed of three groups of two can easily assemble a home in less than one day.
Hey man, this is getting exciting!
And they even use the word Green!

When the pre-engineered building system arrives at the construction site, all of the electrical chases are pre-cut into the foam and steel, allowing the electrician to easily and efficiently wire the house. What is the high-tech building system? The high-tech building system is composed of an extremely strong, pre-engineered light-gauge steel building component. It uses a 5-inch thick integrally rigid 1.5-pound steam expanded polystyrene foam insulation. When used in the exterior shell package, a STOAM home becomes a fortress against the forces of nature.
And of course, the clincher...

EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER
STOAM was proud to have been involved in the Extreme Makeover Project for Camp Barnabas, a camp for disabled children located in Purdy, Missouri. With the help of pb2, STOAM assembled a home, media center and volunteer sleeping quarters in three days in the largest Extreme Makeover Home Edition ever shown. The program aired October 16th, 2005 and was seen by more than 40 million viewers.

How can I get information on R factor, cost, best dimensions to use, lead time etc? I agree that the website in frustrating to manuver in.
How do you know so much about Stoam? Is the product available everywhere?
Greetings kazm,
Those comments in the previous posts were copied directly from the Stoam website an earlier poster had presented and was pasted here for the benefit of the dialup members of Breaktime.
That particular sales promo site was not conducive to connection for anyone not on Cable or DSL highspeed systems.
Cheers

OK, now WHY would I want to build a home that is 100% recyclable?my concept of recycling a home is that the old folks die and somebody else moves in...;)BTW, thanks for these copy pasties. This system removes some of my objectiopns to steel for here. I'm dusting off a shelf in my head for STOAM

WHOA!
Splintie came back out of lurking for a steel stud thread! That fit my mental picture ( of the wall sections) just about right.Back in about '82 I worked on a jail construction where the panels all came prebuilt with steel 12GA walls over steel studs and insulation and wiring inside. Welders stitched them together onsite. I'm supposing the Stoam has something other than welded for connections...The print in that picture is too small to read

<<The print in that picture is too small to read>>You'd gripe if you wuz hung with a new rope. The readable pic couldn't fit in your phone line. <G>I haven't even had time to lurk properly lately. I probably should send Fink a love note for kicking me outta da Shed bec i've accomplished more in the last couple months than in the last two years. I'm a sheetrocking, slate-laying, road base-spreading, boiler-installing, carpet-laying, circuit-wiring whirlwind these days! I ordered a baby Senco compressor i'm itching to unpack and get to trimming out my solarium so i can plant my heirloom 'maters. Record temps in the 60's, to boot. Gawd, i love self-unemployment...
All that work whilest tending baby tomatoes in a hot houseSounds a lot like men-oh-pause to me

OK,
I haven't got past the part about " on site erections"!
Nailer ?
I'm afraid you nailed it, Paul. Friends just took me out for an Irish music concert tonight for my 51st and the shocking realization set in that i had no plans to teach the bouzouki player how to yodel before sending him back to Fermanagh. Nuthin' says "over-the-hill" like letting a perfectly sound Irishman get a head start on a decent night's sleep.

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Tried calling the Stoam folks today. The receptionist took my number and promised a call back but it didn't happen.

Has anybody out there actually worked with this system?
Ha. I'm on high speed, and I got to the point where there was a picture of a canoe, but I gave up at that point, and still don't know what the website was about.
