Storm door(s) for in-swinging French doors
Currently restoring/retrofitting original 100-yr-old in-swinging French doors. As part of this upgrade, I’d also like to install a wood storm door for added R-value.
The question is whether the storm door should also be a French door or if a single door is the way to go. French door opening width is 41” overall, height is 8’. I’m leaning single door for reduced cost, better insulation, etc., but concerned about aesthetics and wonder if functionality might be compromised. Curious to hear other opinions. Thanks.

Strong vote for a double door. A single door over two is going to look funny. Make sure you take the handles or knobs into account. I’ve had a situation like this where the two sets of doors installed beautifully until the door hardware went on and the knobs banged together and didn’t allow the storm door to close completely.
