I need to stucco a block wall and I don’t want the cracks that telegraph from the block wall to come through as stair step cracks saying I’m stucco on a block wall the wall needs to look like its older than block has been around. Is there something that I can mix into the base coat that will make cracks follow different patterns I dont mind cracks just cracks that follow the joint line of block work. Thanks in advance.

To prevent moisture buildup and improve performance, install a continuous air barrier—such as drywall or specialized membranes—under tongue-and-groove boards or other interior wall paneling.

Liquid Latex should help some.Brand names: Hydroment, dependable, custom
*Cover it with cement board first.Actually, if you used surface bonding instead of mortaring the joints, you will not have the problem. Surface bonding and dry stacking is much stronger than mortared joints anyway and if you syrface bond, you kill two birds with one stone.
