Stupid Q – Dewalt jig saw? Blade change?
I have a DW933 Dewalt 18v cordless jig saw that came with one of those combo kits. I have rarely used it and never liked it much because of the hassle of changing the blades and had trouble with them falling out. I actually just dug it out of the yard sale box this morning as I need to use it this weekend. Anyway, what is the trick to changing the blade? Doesn’t seem very intuitive at all. I doubt I still have the directions.

Flip the lever sideways on the nose. And use bosch shank blades or they fall out. I got mine sittin right here.

Changing the blade on this machine is simple- remove the battery and then lift the blade release mechanism and turn it anti-clockwise a few turns and the blade will drop out.
Insert the new blade and then tighten the blade release mechanism clockwise and the magnesium jaws grab the blade.

That was fast!! Thanks guys (Roman). Yea Duane... I think yours is different.
OK - I got it, but with difficulty. Maybe mine is defective or something? It looks like the link fat roman posted. My guess is that the design sux so they abandoned it.
I lift the lever on the top (actually jerk it up as it doesn't raise easily at all) and rotate it counter-clock-wise about 4 turns and then jerk the blade out. I'll get a few Bosch blades and see if that helps with the fall-out problem.

Matt,I have that saw and have had the same issues until I was told how to tighten the blade correctly. Once you have the old blade out and put in the new one you need to turn the knob/handle deal clockwise until it clicks 3 times. Lower the knob back to its normal position and the blade should not come out. It may take a couple of trials but once you figure it out its a snap.
Hummm... Mine doesn't click. On yours, is it rather difficult to pull the black release knob up?
I had the same problem with mine. I think it was a design flaw. The grip improved after I made sure to pull the handle all the way up before turning. If you look closely on the blade holder while turning the handle both ways, you will see how to proceed.
Thanks... LeMe try that.
