I’m using PL Premium to glue the subfloor to joists, and trying to estimate how much I need.
The information says a 28 oz tube will make 85 feet of 1/4 inch bead, or 38 feet of 3/8″ bead.
What size bead do you use? Are these coverage estimates accurate?

ROAR!!!!
in theory or in IRL application???
buy several cases of quarts....
there will be no left overs....

WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
I get about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 sheets of decking down with a 10.5 oz. tube when it is warm.
So I order one tube per sheet, then keep the rest for ....there is always a need.

Do you like the small tubes better than the big?
Why?
I think of large in terms of constant framing where you use a lot constantly.I had a few large caulk guns that were supposed to be top of the line, but they hardly lasted any time at all and cost me plenty. Smaller ones are cheaper to replace.I do smaller jobs and remo so a larger tube once opennned is too likely to go bad before I finish it.

I wish they sold caulking in tubes a third the size of the small ones.
Just finishing up a metal roof and half remember you mentioning that you have changed the caulking you use. Of course can't find the thread using the search function...
for metal roofs I use Geocell for the last 15 years or so.Before that it was butyl caulk, which is good but messy and will not flow cold. Before that it was silicone, but I only had to use it for a year to know it was terrible for metal roofing.

Thanks. Ah, another trip to town.
I get about 1.5 sheets per quart size tube. Most goes on the joist, some on in the hair, lots on the feet, half slowly oozes out while caulk gun is on the floor when installing a sheet, air hoses and extension cords get a good bit as well.
I order 2.5 jumbo tubes per sheet.
Have a good day

2.5 large tubes PER SHEET? thats like only 11 lineal feet per tube with joists 16" oc, do you really use that much?
Ah, but he didn't say he used it, just that he buys it. Probably has a storage unit somewhere that his wife doesn't know about stocked to the ceiling with PL Premium.
I live 30 miles from the lumber yard. You need 32 feet of bead per sheet and sometimes I put a bead thru the tongue. If I end up with a tube or two at the end of the day it wont't get wasted.

Bead size: 5/16". I get about 1 1/2 sheets per 28oz tube. I also glue the bottom of the groove with a small bead.
