Hello people. simple question. Do you think it would be fine to use 1-5/8 star drive deck screws on a 23/32 OSB subfloor to joists? If not, any suggestions would be welcome. Thank you as always.

If those screws were specified for your particular assembly by an engineer and stamped off on, then they should be fine. If you’re using the prescriptive path in the IRC, you might be able to get them approved by your building inspector (do this before you install them) as an alternative to the fasteners specified for 23/32 floor sheathing in the code (8d common, 2 - 2.5 in., 131 in. shank). Screws approved for use in floor sheathing installation should have an ESR that details how to install them - you’ll need this document to get your building official’s permission to use them. Unfortunately, nobody in this forum has the authority to approve an alternative fastener.
Thank you very much!!! I appreciated your suggestion.
Don’t forget the glue!
