*Does anyone have recommendations for a source/ book/ CD for CA contractors forms and contracts? *
(e.g. HIC contract, S&R contract, SubContractor contract, etc.)
I know there are many sources (I’ve searched) but I am looking for personal experience and/ or recommendations as it is hard to discern quality and content from most of the web ads.
Thanks, David

Maybe buildersbook.com is still in business. I got a cd full of forms and contracts from them some years back.
Thanks, I recently obtained a book/ CD from them too. I haven't found it be that clear in some cases (though I appreciate the premise of AIA standard forms), and it appears the RTFs don't work for MacOSX (Pages), which in itself is a deal breaker (since I do need to edit and print these forms).
Have you checked Nolo Press?
(I haven't, my contracts are a sad cobbled amalgamation, but I have used Nolo's landlord's books and forms, and think highly of them)

Yes, thanks, the best they have is a general contract book for ICs, far too general. For those interested, my experience has been that a) most of the guys I know use, as you said, 'cobbled together' contracts (sadly tells you what kind of crowd I run with ;) ), and b) the best one to date is the BuildersBookstore (see link below) but BE FOREWARNED: the RTF files are not Mac compatible! (took a bit of research for someone there to finally acknowledge/ confirm this). Calif. Construction Forms and Contracts Combo Pack, Ver. 3
