I got a quote from a sub to install a battery back up sump pump. Wondering if anyone has any expereince with the different types/brands and what this should cost. Quote to me was about $900 in Central Indiana. I am wanting to justify cost to my client. I figure there is $300-400 in materials (12V pump, battery, charger). Does this seem about right?

Last I looked, a small pump with battery and charger was around $200. PIpe and fittings shouldn't be much. Make sure you and the customer approve of the pump and run time. The ones I've seen don't have a great pumping rate and only go 8 hours. I lost power for days after the hurricane and got flooded 3 times. Looked into getting a battery system but decided against it because of the short run time. Also, my big 1/2 HP pump can easily get swamped in a heavy storm and a little 150 GPH pump won't do much for me. I don't know if you can get big battery pumps or what they cost, but that's what I'd need. I've seen the small ones at several places, but never any big ones.
