Opened up part of my basement wall (replacing paneling with drywall, with some insulation and other upgrades)
found a leak in the ABS stack.
The old paneling had been installed, hiding the clean out, for 30 years or so.
Must have had issues before then, since there is a rubber joint installed
I plan to replace from above the cleanout to the existing joint with PVC.
This 3 inch vertical stack carries waste from the half bath on the first floor, and a full bath on the second.
How much should I worry about supporting the ABS while I cut it and insert the new pipe?
Any other free advice?

decided a riser clamp was worthwhile.
notched the front stud, added a short 2x3 on the right.
cut the back half of the clamp to fit it around the back of the pipe.
Snug (old guy finger tight) plus about a flat, and some locktite to keep the nut where it is on the bolt.
Nicely done.
You know, “I have heard it said that free advice is worth what you pay for it. (sometimes)” ?
Anyone looking for context, miss 2013 came to, "A community where professionals and homeowners are welcome to ask questions, offer advice, and share examples of home remodeling and construction projects" looking for help with her anger and blame issues.
(with a roof framing question)

She did not like my replies, and so has decided to troll me here.
I wish her well.
No kidding?
Oddly, last night on an online “neighbors” locally, two guys went at at 3am. One remodeler and another handyman. Stuff you wouldn’t say around your mother or in a dimly lit bar.
Took somebody till late morning to pull it.
Social (?) media can be as stupid as some of the people that use it. Does it being in the land of no face to face people bring out the “best” in people.
In my defense, mister 1942 deleted his rude comments, so there is no context to be found in the referenced post. What I quoted came directly from one of his rude posts to me, and then I find him asking for “free advice” on this post.
As a last (hopefully) response, it seems to me that you are quick to take offense.
All the context required is in your own posts.
I deleted my offerings since it was clear they were not received as helpful to you, and seemed only to increase your anger.
You seem like a real nice person. Good luck with the house.
But while we are here, my basement project has come along.
I will post a couple updates. in a new post.
