An archy/builder who I do a lot of work for, along with the homeownerette, designed this . We finished trimming the house in August. He called me a couple of weeks ago, to replace the 1×6 pine stick propping up this counter.
Legs are some kind of maple off the property, w/ about 7″ diameter, aprons are 1 3/4″ x 4″ cherry.
The edges of the granite are rough and nubbily. After the radius was rough cut with a CNC saw, the fabricator whacked the edge with a hammer, striking down at an angle, towards the outside of the radius. They flipped the pieces over and whacked the other side. VoilÃ¥… Very nice effect.

Excellent work.
I like that chiselled edge.

Thanks, best thing was I got to use all my tools...worst was I had to get them all up<G> "But to be honest some folks here have been pushing the envelope quite a bit with their unnecessary use if swear words. That's nice work, and a nice design. I like the natural edge, too. I did one of those for a vanity top once, it's a good counterpoint to the smooth polished granite top.

Zak, did you do your own edge? It woulda freaked me out whacking those big pieces with a hammer. The vanities in this house have the same edge, too. Owners said they saw something similar in a lodge in the NC mountains. "But to be honest some folks here have been pushing the envelope quite a bit with their unnecessary use if swear words. need to take the firewood outside , it look better.
yeah, but it keeps the bugs warmer when they're inside<G> "But to be honest some folks here have been pushing the envelope quite a bit with their unnecessary use if swear words. They just put a character in to replace a letter. But everyone knows what they're saying." Sancho
I did my own cutting and chipped the edge myself, but like I said, it's just a little vanity. The top was a scrap peice of granite, so I didn't have much to lose.
I haven't actually seen this done anywhere before, but I just assumed that it was done in other places. Here's one photo of the process, and one of the top installed.zak
