Hi all,
I’m adding an exterior light on a wall for the backyard. Am I allowed to surface mount a pancake box to the exterior wall for use in mounting the light fixture? First alternative is removing stucco and insetting the pancake box so it’s mounted on the sheathing. Second alternative is removing stucco and sheathing and mounting an oct box to a stud. I know which one I would rather do (surface mount). What’s the preferred method?
