Sweating drain and condenser lines

Both of these A/C lines are not insulated with breaks in insulation and they sweat and drip on the sheetrock below. Two questions;
1. Do I strip off the old insulation and install new or try to insulate only the missing portion?
2. Only part of the lines have been exposed. Is it necessary to insulate vertical runs (may require extensive opening of bathroom wall). Thanks.

The two lines are the liquid line (the small one) and the suction line (the big one). The suction line needs continuous waterproof insulation or it will sweat. The liquid line does not need to be insulated. The best way to insulate the suction line is with a sleeve, but that would require an open end. Short of replacing all of the suction line insulation, the best option is to repair the damaged areas as much as possible. Seal cuts and splices as well as you can.
