   I have one.  I used to install a lot of kitchens by myself and I thought it was great.  I could set the cabinet up on the wall, slide the nut up and the T-jak would hold it in place.  You can then adjust the height up or down using the nut.  Once it is in place, you just screw them to the wall.  The unit is well balanced, it will stand up by itself.

   I always have set base cabs first.  Working alone I see it as the easy way.  Also, I'm a believer that the base dictates what happens-the uppers follow suit.

   Used to use site built "jacks".  Pretty much a 4 sided open cube.  two sizes in one.  Shim to right.  Set that on a pc of ply on the lowers.  Did one box at a time usually.

   Then I got the Little Hands and 3rd Hands from Fastcap.  With 4 or those I can set up a whole bank of uppers with minimal grunt.

   Yet another way of doing things.

   I read a review of them somewhere, quite a while back. May have been Amazon. Poster wasn't impressed. Suggested building your own, which is what I did. Use 3/4" pipe for the base, screw on a floor flange. Get a length of 1/2" threaded rod, put a nut on it & slide it down in the pipe for the jack. Put another floor flange on the rod for the top. Works just fine. The only drawback is that you don't have the specialized t-knob for jacking.

   I have 2 of them.  I also set the bottoms first but you don't have to.  You just need a base cabinet to hold the short T-jack.  You can also buy a longer Tjack to set the tops first.  I bought a second one for installing wide cabinets or banks of cabinets.  Its hard to balance a large cabinet on one Tjack.You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.
