Anyone have a good source for a aftermarket fence for a table saw? I have a 53 Craftsman in need of a new fence. I was in Lowes and looking at the Delta contractor saw and talking to the assoc. there and he says he can get just the fence for that saw, looked like a beismeijer, for 150.00. Anyone have this saw and like the fence?

If it's a T-square fence, it's the T-2 and it is a decent fence. It will deflect about 1/32" under substantial pressure, but so will most of the other T-square types.
I think it is a t-Square fence.

I have the Vega Utility Saw Fence with 50" rip capacity mounted to my Craftsman contractor table saw. They also have a 26" rip version. They are priced at $289 and $319. I am very pleased with it. Might be more than what you are looking for, but I highly recommend them. Very sturdy. You can find them at http://www.vegawoodworking.com
I've got the BIESEMEYER¯ fence on an old Unisaw. One of the best things I've bought.

Scott.
I've got a Craftsman Contractor TS that I bought in the mid 70's. I bought that Delta fence from Lowes (orig price $150). I had to drill holes in the front and back rails to fit the Craftsman and it works just fine....good deal for the price ...very accurate. The drilling is some work...had to use a drill press to drill and countersink for the bolts.
Bingo! Well I'm gonna give it a try. No matter what I do I can't rip a piece without burrning it on the back of the blade. I figured out that the original fence has a bow in it. So might as well move on. Thanks everybody for your replies.

Have fun.
I forgot to mention that I have a SEARS upgrade fence that I replaced the original with. The upgrade has a lock down similar to the Delta and rides on the SEARS front and back rails. It's not bad but requires tweaking to get a dead on straight cut. No wood burning. I got tired of taking the time to set it up for real accurate cuts so I upgraded again to the Delta. If you would like to try the SEARS before going for the Delta I'll send it to you no charge. It's just taking up space here. For occasional use it's fine but again if you're going to use it a lot the setup time isn't worth it.
Thanks for the offer but I'm using this every day now. I haven't used the old saw for a while and I pulled it out and took it to the job and had forgotten how much of a pain in the a$$ it was. I think I'm gonna spring for the Delta. It sounds like the bearings are going out in the trunion also. 30 bucks will fix that. I'm still getting off cheaper than buying a new saw. I replaced the bearings on my bosses saw (same age) and it hums like a unisaw.:)

You're welcome.
Did you check out PALS (Precision Alignment System) for blade alignment? Short $ for a good product.
